Enigmatic souls [Liluth + Faolan]

Faolan willingly came to sit with her, but as she picked up the topic which coming he’d dreaded, he took a calm, deep breath as if he was breathing in strength.

“What would you like to know”, it was easy to hear that this was not something that he liked, but he did it for her.

“I met him in Song-Lu after we parted ways at the train station. He just.. Suddenly jumped at me, asking me to be his teacher. I highly disapproved of his obnoxious attitude.. He had absolutely no sense of personal space, and I also had to get back home, so I told him to go and earn money so that he could pay me, and I left while he was gone.

I met him again the night after Amedra and Belport attacked. He continued to ask me, and I eventually agreed to help him summon a demon the next day. But when he showed me the sigil for this demon, it contained something beyond his prowess.. He was at the same time constantly followed by a demon that was out of his control and sucked at his life force, so I understood that this boy was self-destructive by nature and would cause a lot of misfortune. I did not want anything to do with that.. You shall not ask me whether I could have hindered this from happening for I do not even believe that I could. And I knew that his mere presence would drive me insane anyway.. I think his parasitic demon has corrupted him.”

He was looking down to the side at nothing particular as he talked as if this helped him remember better. Only when he was done did he look up at her.

“Yes.. I am glad that you understand”, he sent her one of those closed smiles that was only for her to see, “he shall never disturb us again.”

As Liluth lay on him, he used his free hand to run fingers through her hair and stroke her head.

“You are not useless. I was anxious that you might get hurt, but I never feared for my own life. I knew you would be there to heal my wounds and soothe my soul. That is the best help I could ever get.”

Faolan returned Liluth’s gaze calmly, knowing that she would need some reassurance in this to relax.

“I actually thought about that. If you use that.. Glamour ring you have, no one will notice you, thinking that you are a light elf, and we can easily go to the port and find a ship for you.”

“So do I”, he admitted, exhaling as he was now the one to look over at the fire.

The next thing she said made his ears visibly drop, and he frowned lightly.
“No…”, he just said and paused, not knowing what to say. He hated to think of that she had to leave. It assembled in his stomach and hurt, “we should.. Decide exactly when to leave so we can prepare for it. It takes around a day’s ride on my black goat to reach Amedra, so.. It got to be soon.”
