***Eight Years Ago; Year 8282***
The skies were as thick with clouds as ever, the rain falling at a steady pace. Weather like this would be considered bad, and something that no one would really be looking to enjoy. However, when one lived in Iadlain, that wasn't really the case. Rainy days were commonplace here, and when they happened, you either throw on a cloak and go about your day as usual, or stay inside and suck it up. For one dark elf girl in particular, both of those options applied: She had a long, green cloak on, hood pulled low over her face to keep the rain from her eyes. She was hurrying along through the streets, a crate in her arms, doing her best not to slip on the wet cobble stones. A little further ahead, there was a Raven flying from awning to awning of the shop fronts and buildings it could find, letting out a caw every now and again as it glanced back at the girl. Perhaps most surprisingly, anytime it did, the girl would give a little nod, and change direction ever so slightly, as though she understood what the Raven was saying. Eventually, after nearly bumping into a person or two on the way over, both the Girl and the raven made it to a small shop: Merilindes Alchemy. Reaching the door, the girl opened it, and held it open for a moment with her foot, saying, "Come on!" As she did, the Raven went down from the awning above the door and flew into the store, quickly followed by the girl.
Once inside, she let out a heavy sigh, walking past the shelves to the front counter to set the crate down. She pulled her hood off and removed the cloak entirely, shaking out her long , curly hair with her fingers. She left the cloak on the counter, picking the crate up again and heading through the back door now, calling out as she did so. "Mother, I'm back from the Airfield!" Just as she did that, another dark elf came up from another door in the back room, her hair tied back, wiping her hands off with a towel. "Ah, Moriel. I heard the bell ding, but I wasn't sure if it was you or a customer... So then you got the shipment?" Moriel nodded, setting the crate down on the table. "I did indeed. But as far as customers go, do you really think people will come in while it's raining so badly?" Her mom rolled her eyes, answering, "You'd be surprised." Before she went and grabbed the crate, looking back at Moriel. "Just keep an eye on the front of the store, and if you need anything then don't hesitate to call me. As always, I'm going to leave the basement door open so you don't have to worry about needing to come all the way down to get me, alright?" The girl gave her a thumbs up, saying, "Don't worry about it, I'll handle it!" Before turning back around and going through the door again. She couldn't understand what her mom was so worried about; what's the worst that could possibly happen? She went over to one of the wall shelves, nodding to the Raven from earlier—who had decided to perch itself on the edge of the counter—to reorganize and fix some of the bottles so that everything looked neater. "Keep an eye on the door for me, okay Tan?"
