Setting: Mid-afternoon | | Noodle Stall

Lentia licks her dry lip. She just hopped down from the caravan that brought her from Tusa, the girl is now back to Song-Lu. “Heaven…” she says, closing her eyes as she feels the breeze. Damn, there’re still sands on her clothes—and she thought she cleaned everything, especially when they stopped in Koben for a while. “Yeah, I’ll see you later,” the girl bows slightly to her senior, he needs to make the report as soon as possible. Poor guy, at this kind of time, she can’t help but feeling grateful that she’s still just an apprentice.

“Oh,” says her, feeling the rumble in her stomach. That’s right, she hasn’t eaten lunch, and boy, how she miss Song-Lu’s food! Wasting no time, Lentia marches to her usual noodle stall. Sure, she always is so cautious whenever she takes a walk on this city street, but that doesn’t mean she’s not aware of some great culinary spots. “One jjampong please,” she takes a seat in front of the stall, and pulls some kind of black cloth upon her head, to hooded her face. It’s the same cloth she used to protect herself when she’s in Tusa.

It was mid-afternoon as Tor'ang strolled through the city streets in her Tomoe persona; Disguised as a young woman with pale skin, dark eyes and round ears, she looked like any human songluan woman one might encounter in the city. Wearing a long white jacket with wide sleeves over a long, light brown skirt, she honestly relied more on the physical aspects of this disguise than the small illusion which took her the rest of the way from "almost unrecognizable" to being a different person entirely. It was a skill well worth having taken the time to learn.

She watched as a young woman left a caravan, she had obviously come from Tusa. The woman bowed to a man Tor'ang recognized as a Peacekeeper, and that made her curious. Did they carry interesting news from their travels? She would receive Orlan's report later, certainly, if they did. But she liked to compare those reports to what she found out on her own. Of course, if the young woman was a Peacekeeper, she wouldn't just open up to a random stranger and spill the beans. A little game, then.

Tor'ang smiled, following the woman to the noodle stall in such a way that she arrived very innocently a few moments later, just in time to order herself a pot of glass noodle soup. She turned to the young woman, smiling sweetly. "Hi." Nodding to the headscarf, she gave it a curious look. "What's that?"

"Ahh.." Lentia sighs in delight, watching as the jjampong being presented in front of her. They look so red! "I miss you..." she put her hands on each sides of the bowl and wails quietly, feeling very happy. Then without wasting any time, she starts digging in. Just like she expected, the soup, the seafood, the noodles, all of them tastes better after a long ride. Most people will probably get a stomachache if they're eating spicy food with an empty stomach, but that rule doesn't apply with the raven head.

She's so engrossed until she doesn't realize another visitor that just takes a seat too. Then suddenly... "Hi." Lentia chokes on her food when she hears someone talking to her. She coughs abruptly, feeling the spicy soup takes a wrong turn to her nostrils. Quickly, she snatches a glass of water and drinks the content. After feeling rather calm, she turns her head to see the speaker, and finds a beautiful woman smiling sweetly at her. It seems that she’s a native from here. Please don't tell me that you know me.. Please don't tell me that you know me.. Lentia starts chanting mentally, and her hand automatically reaches her scarf, pulling it closer to her face. She's usually cautious and can adapt fairly quick in almost any situation, but somehow she's caught off guard today. Maybe because she's tired from the mission, or maybe because this is Song-Lu in general, and she's always jumpy in Song-Lu.

"Huh?" however, her expression turns slightly relief when the woman asks a different thing instead. "Uhh... it's a headscarf," Lentia gives out a nervous small laughs and sits properly again. "You never saw one before?"

Tor'ang giggled at the young woman's reaction, hiding it behind a polite hand. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to startle you," she admitted demurely as the woman recovered.

It was interesting for Tor'ang to note the hints of worry in her expression. What did she have to be worried about? Criminal connections, perhaps? Tor'ang's expression betrayed none of these thoughts, just showing a hint of amusement. The expression changed to interest as the young woman explained about the headscarf, and Tor'ang leaned forward slightly to look at it more closely.

She knew them, of course, but she hadn't had the opportunity to spend much time in Tusa, so large parts of her curiosity were quite real. "I never saw one before. Where's it from? It looks so exotic," she added enthusiastically. Drawing breath, she looked momentarily guilt. "Oh, where are my manners! I'm Tomoe," she introduced herself with a small, polite bow of her head.

"That's okay," Lentia shakes her head softly, "I think I'm just feeling a little bit tired, that's why I'm kind of jumpy," chuckles, and pinches the bridge of her nose. What she said to the woman is true, and suddenly she can't wait to finish her food and crashes to her bed. However... the thief turns her head to see the woman again, and taking a better look. Not everyday people come to her and asks her about the thing she wears. If anything, she's the one who always does that to people. Then.. this woman is beautiful, and despite that she dresses simply, she has this both calm and firm aura around her. Not many people has that, and Lentia's safer guess is that she probably comes from a noble family--some kind of lady or something--because she's obviously not a street rat. So, why? Why is this woman come to talk to her? Just because she's curious?

"Oh, it's from Tusa. And actually, I have some others," the girl nods and takes more of the headscarves from her bag. For now, her suspicion about the stranger is subsiding--besides, she's probably too tired that she becomes too cautious and imagining things--the woman can be a common people for all she knows. "I know right, they are beautiful. You have good eye," smirking proudly, Lentia lays the scarves gently on the table, slightly apart from her bowl. The patterns of each are different, there's animal print, ethnic, tie dye, or just a plain color. Lentia likes beautiful things, and it seems that this woman next to her is having a similar taste with her.

"And I'm Nova," Lentia smiles and returns the bow after Tomoe introduced herself. "If you want, you can take one. I don't mind. I got it for free anyway," she then gestures to the scarf and starts eating again. They're actually came from a very kind merchant, Lentia talks to him while waiting for her senior to picked her up, in the end he said that she amused him and then he gave her these.

"Oh, I couldn't possibly," Tor'ang protested modestly at Nova's offer of giving her one of the headscarves. "They are beautiful, though," she added with a smile, appreciating the variation among the different scarves. Such colorful items of clothing, with a hint of the life and spirit of the desert city.

"Thank you kindly for the offer, Nova." She looked up momentarily as her soup was delivered, then her eyes moved back to Nova's hooded face. It was unusual for people to offer gifts so quickly to ones they'd just met, she thought, but it was also a very polite gesture. She dared to pick up one of the scarves, the tie-dyed one, letting the cloth ripple across her fingers lightly. It was of good quality, but she wondered at the wild colors - you needed to balance the rest of the clothes carefully to make it work.

"They're of very good quality, aren't they?" she asked, putting the scarf back down with the others. She'd seen Nova with the peacekeeper, but perhaps her first assumption had been wrong. Was Nova another peacekeeper, or perhaps a merchant getting ready to set up a business? Tor'ang decided to ask more about the trip. "Were you in Tusa for business or pleasure?" She giggled faintly at the word 'pleasure', it was not one Tomoe used a lot.

And I’m sorry about the Bratkovice prompt Sky. I did an RP with a friend who is also a peacekeeper, but we’re too focus with the ignition event, we didn’t have much time, so we didn’t make it for the deadline.. But we’re going to finish it))

“Nah, really,” Lentia let out a soft chuckle when Tomoe protest. She can see it in her eyes that she likes them though. So for a final touch, she pushes them closer to her side, urging the beautiful lady to pick one. “It is,” the girl gives a playful wink before continues eating. “Hope you don’t mind. I’m starving,” excuses her, while giving an apologetic look to Tomoe.

“Good choice. You can always wear something plain with it, and it’s going to be magical. Or at least, that’s what the previous owner told me,” the noirnette grins and raises the bowl to her mouth, sipping some of the soup. “Ah!” she exclaims in content and put it down. “The noodles here is the best, and you should eat your Tomoe, it won’t be as good if it’s cold,” again, she put another mouthful to her mouth, but stops immediately when she notices that Tomoe would already know that. It’s really silly of her. “Yes. The owner told me that he breed the caterpillar himself, and feed them with natural colored flowers and plants. So when the caterpillar produces the silk, they come in different variation and are ready for the final process,” Lentia nods upon Tomoe’s question, and explain again. “Actually, I know the main store, and if you’re really interested, I can give you the address.”

The thief automatically breaks into a smile upon the lady’s next question, and laughs when she giggles. Not that kind of teasing or nervous laugh, instead it sounds like she’s genuinely happy about it, as if she really enjoys her visit there. And she is, actually. She met someone, a very valuable person. “Umm… both,” Lentia answers and sighs softly. “I met a very entertaining person, and Tusa, despite the heat and on, is really beautiful at night. I really is like how people describe it, a jewel in the middle of the dessert,” she then throws Tomoe a meaningful look, though she doesn’t explain further about the business part. She doesn’t want to lie if it’s not necessary. It’s kind of odd that ever since they talk, none of her smiles are faked (unlike the usual routine she has with other people). Maybe because the lady caught her off guard, and because she feels so pure and kind that it affects the apprentice herself.

“You live here ever since you’re a kid, Tomoe?”

Tor'ang appreciated the gesture, and since Nova insisted, she did indeed settle on the tie-dyed scarf. It would be impolite to keep refusing when they had both done the little back-and-forth dance of offering and polite declining.

"That's very interesting, do you think he got his silkworms from Song-Lu?" The silkworms were important enough to be a part of the zodiac, but there had been no export restrictions on them - the Songluan climate was far better for them than any other, so attempts to breed them elsewhere often had unintended results. She briefly wondered if the Tusan fauna had a different, but related creature.

She took a sip of the glass noodle soup, smiling in appreciation of the taste. It really was good. "They know their craft here, that's for sure," she agreed with Nova's assessment of the noodle stand. "Think you'll return to Tusa sometime? It does sound like a wonderful place," she mused with a wistful tone. Tomoe was the kind of girl who would likely never travel anywhere, instead living her dreams through the stories of others.

Nodding to Nova's question, she explained with a handwave in the direction of the ports. "We moved around a bit, but yes, I've lived here ever since I was little. Often near the ports, a few times in the market district, and once just across the street from a tram station. Just as we got used to the sound, it was time to move again," she confided with a little laugh. "What about you, Nova?"

“Honestly, I don’t know. I didn’t ask him,” Lentia shakes her head and smiles at Tomoe. “Though judging from the good quality fabric, I’d like to believe that he got it from here. I never encountered better silk than the ones they produced from Song-Lu,” she adds and gently takes the rest of the unlucky scarves, the one Tomoe didn’t pick. “Can’t let them get dirty, you should just wear yours or put it somewhere clean,” the girl explains, and stores all of them into her bag.

When the apprentice looks front to her bowl, she just notices that they’re now empty. Sighing softly, Lentia rubs her belly in content. She’s now stuffed. After that, the thief leans forward, propping her head with her knuckle, and listening to Tomoe’s explanation, while watching her in between. The Song-Luan is really pretty, and kind of adorable, that Lentia wants to pinch her cheek. But the thief knows that many people won’t appreciate the gesture, so she holds back that urge. “I think so, it’s beautiful in it’s own way, so yeah..” Lentia nods, smiling. If Orlan gives her another job in Tusa, it’ll be her place to comply, and she wouldn’t mind. “You should try travelling, Tomoe, leave your home once in a while. You might get surprise of what you’ll find,” leaning closer to the beauty, Lentia grins, “I mean, you’ve been around Song-Lu for your whole life. Why not try something different?” and stresses her point.

Just before she answers Tomoe’s last question though, a man joins them, sitting next to the Song-Luan, putting her between him and the apprentice peacekeeper. Lentia’s freezes in an instant, and her eyes flashes dangerously as she recognizes the man, even in his getup (he’s wearing a cloak and pull up the hood to cover his face).Rohayu taught her well, she trained her apprentice to have a keen eye. Normal people won’t notice Lentia’s tense condition since it only lasts for mili-seconds, but a skilled people would. “Ah, I’m just a traveler. I’ve been going around from as long as I can remember,” the apprentice chuckles and pulls her chair closer to Tomoe, suddenly feeling protective of her. As far as she knows, the towering guy behind her company can crack skull like a piece of cake.

That man is a wanted criminal, he’s a serial killer, and is responsible for the child murder around Koben. What in the world is he doing here? Walking around the Peacekeeper.. Lentia thought cautiously and watch as he’s ordering his meal. “My parents are gone, so I figured I can do anything I want and just go anywhere I like, since nobody is really holding me back,” she speaks casually to Tomoe, takes a tooth pick, and places them between her teeth. But the truth is, her mind is busy deducting about what she has to do next.

Should she catch him here? No.. It’s too risky with Tomoe in between, also, people knows Lentia is better at stealth rather than a direct combat. She can follow him later, that’s probably best. But seriously, what the heck is he doing here? He’s been missing for half a year, no one was able to find him, and now she finds him here right under the Peacekeeper nose? Maybe he’s trying to get across to Miras region, and he chooses to travel from Song-Lu because a bunch of a peacekeeper is better than a horde of military in Lynhithe.

Well, if that’s the case.. He’s stupider than she expected.
