Adorning New Talents! [Bethel & Gabor]

((Oh hey, I was reorganizing the timelines of my RPs and I was wondering if it would be a problem if this RP happened some time before the current events? Cause I really don’t know where to place it in my timeline :’D ))

Gabor was heading back to Valsk. He had spend another one of his days hiding up in his mountains. Well, he would never admit he was hiding, he would rather say that he went for a walk or hunting and not admit that he was avoiding something.

He did not take the main path back. He knew shortcuts and preferred using those since there was always the chance of meeting someone on the main road who was willing to strike up conversation, and Gabor wanted to avoid that as much as he could. Socializing was not in his skill sets.

He continued down the shortcut when he placed his foot on a rock that had been covered by snow. The poor boy tried to keep his balance, but he slipped and began tumbling down until he reached the main path and landing on a pile of dry branches, making some of them snap. He muttered a soft “Ouch” and was glad that no one saw that embarrassing fall. He got up, dusting the snow off his clothes he saw a light coming in his direction. Gabor had barely time to realize what it was that he quickly ducked before it hit him.

“What the hell?!” he yelled in confusion, irritation in his voice.

Gabor looked at her in disbelief. “Not… not used to?” he whispered to himself with indignation, getting out from where he was and walking towards the girl. Judging by her looks and the way she was dressed this person was not from around here.

“Next time you try to keep safe, make sure you’re not hitting another human being. You could have killed or seriously injured someone!” he scolded her, only then noticing that she had put her hand out for a shake. Gabor narrowed his eyes and took a cautious step back as there was still fire hovering right above her palm. Was she not able to control her magic? Just as that thought crossed his mind, the young woman quickly made it disappear and introduced herself.

“Huh,” was the only thing that came out of the soldier. “Why are you here?” he asked, feeling it was his duty to know. He did not want this woman to continue throwing fireballs around so carelessly.

Gabor said nothing about her statement, mostly because it was true. Valskians were just like the land that they inhabited: cold, harsh, and hard to adapt to. He was mostly confused with her sudden change of behavior, first she was apologizing and looked almost frightened, and now she was irritated. He should be the irritated one! He almost got his face burnt off!

The soldier looked at the young lady, paying close attention to the little flame that she was now controlling in her hand. Was this some sort of attempt to scare him or even threaten him? Whichever the case, he was not falling for it. “And a person who uses their magic so carelessly against people would be prone to have a very short life in Valsk,” he stated coldly. He was probably exaggerating, but she had been lucky she threw the fireball at him and not someone else. First off, he was trained so he easily avoided the attack; secondly, he wasn’t as bad tempered as most Valskians were.

He honestly didn’t really care what her job was, but he listened to her nonetheless. He huffed when she asked for his name. Really, why did she even care? “Gabor,” was his dry introduction.

“Umh, no,” was the soldier’s honestly reply. He was not trying to threaten her, she was the one with a flame floating around her hand! True, his words did sound harsh and unwelcoming, but it was not meant to threaten (though he could understand why she thought so), rather to scare her a bit and hopefully make her think twice next time before she threw a fireball in a random direction. She could have badly injured someone, but it seemed that did not faze her at all. Such a careless person.

Gabor said nothing at her next statement. His anger was exchanged with irritation now. From what he could tell, this young woman wanted to have the last word in everything. Sure, fine, whatever. He would have been exiled in Tusa, yeah sure. As if he cared.

That’s when right behind her an ice wyvern appeared. Gabor’s eyes shot open and he quickly bent his knees and took a step back, bracing himself. His hand slowly made his way to the dagger in his boot, being careful not to make any sudden movement. He clenched his teeth and furrowed his eyebrows. He had very rarely encountered ice wyverns and luckily had always been able to escape unharmed. He had been taught to remain completely still, for those creatures would not attack unless sudden movements were made.

Of course that is when that idiotic girl screeched at him. The soldier had to repress the urge to knock her unconscious. “Shh, no, no!” he tried to urge her as quietly as possible. “Don’t… move,” he whispered, slowly raising his hand towards her.

The wyvern was staring at them with its cold eyes, a low threatening hiss echoed in its throat and it slowly began to open its blue-ish/grey wings. Gabor inhaled deeply through clenched teeth. He really hoped this would not end badly.

Of course… of course this stupid woman would not listen to him. Gabor had just told her to be still and not move and what does she do? She begins throwing fireballs at the wyvern. He grumbled to himself and immediately prepares for the attack. They had to be careful and not get touched by the creatures teeth, for if that did happen they would be paralyzed. It would be the end of them.

The Wyvern was able to knock away the staff from her hands, and now it was completely focused on the girl. Gabor narrowed his eyes and took a deep breath. If he was quick enough he could get her staff and quickly get out of there. He gripped tightly at the dagger in his hand, knowing that it would not do much against the wyvern. He jumped on his toes and darted towards the staff as the wyvern lunged for the girl, giving Gabor enough time to slide down, collect the staff, roll on his side in an attempt to get away from the creature. He had her staff! Just as he was about to throw it in her direction, the wyvern turned its attention towards the soldier, hissing at him and making its tail swing violently at Gabor, making him hit his back against a nearby tree.

He felt his back crash with the thick wood and opened his mouth to gasp for air. His eyes shot open and all he could feel right now was a stinging pain running along his spine. He was still holding the staff tightly between his arms.

((Ahh, sorry I didn’t write it the same way you did haha. He got a 2 – he was able to retrieve the staff- and a 5 – he got hit. I hope I did it right :’D ))

((Hey! Sorry for the late reply again! I’ve been kinda busy lately. Also! I wanted to tell you that I’ll be on a trip next week so my replies might continue to be slow, but I will eventually get back to you c; hope that’s okay))

Gabor was still gasping for air when the wyvern was aiming for him. He tried to move away but was left breathless. Thankfully Bethel arrived just in time, stepping in front of him and protecting the both of them with a magic shield of some sort. He was still on his knees and tried to regain himself. He took deep breaths and glanced at the creature that was trying to break the shield. The soldier was back on his feet, his knees wobbling a little, but that would not stop him. If he did not do something the two of them would be dead.

Gabor was irritated by her command, but pushed that feeling away as it was not time to focus on such a thing. He grabbed the dagger that fell out from his hand after the impact and readied the second one he had in his other hand. This was going to be a tough fight. He knew they had a weak spot right beneath its jaw line, next to its neck. They just had to get close enough to strike him there.

He braced himself and ran out of the shield. The wyvern hissed at him, opening its wing hitting him and making him tumble on the snow. Gabor this time was quick enough to roll on his shoulder and get back on his feet again. He continued running so that the creature would leave the young woman alone. He tried to find an opening but there was none.

“His weak spot! I need an opening!” he yelled at the girl, pointing at the spot right beneath his own jaw line so she could understand what he was talking about. If he cut there the creature would bleed to death.
