Gwen beamed outright in return to Harriet's smile, not seeming to pick up on any reservations she might be having. "Yeah, Harriet is like, the Miras person!" she agreed brightly, not minding that Petri seemed to be making some effort to ignore her out of the three of them. Any further attempt of hers to chat though was cut off as a new stranger emerged from the backroom, and he and Petri greeted each other warmly from across the room. Oh! The cousin? The cousin, right!
Petri shut the shop door firmly and, staying where he was in front of it, explained the situation briefly to his cousin, who then grinned at them all. He was a much larger-looking man than Petri, but his teeth nevertheless shone from their frame of shaggy stubble. "Alright!" he announced, "I’ll have a look for this lady’s bag in a moment—” he nodded at Elentiya, “—but first, let’s see about my lost money!”
Which seemed cool to Gwen, so she grabbed the pouch out of her pocket and, on a whim, decided to throw him the same test question she’d been using earlier for it. “So how much is in here?” she asked brightly, brandishing it in front of her.
The cousin’s eyes narrowed ever so slightly. “What does it matter…? That certainly looks like my bag—”
“Oh come on, gimme a rough figure!” Gwen persisted cheerfully, like this was all fun and games, and after a hesitation the cousin stated,
“Six silvers.”
To which Gwen blinked. Six silver coins? “That’s, uh.” She glanced quickly at Elentiya and Harriet now, as if suddenly uncertain where to take this. “That’s completely wrong.”
The smiles dropped abruptly from both the cousin and Petri’s face. Whoops. Withdrawing her hand, Gwen backed up right next to Harriet, as if for protection, since the way to the door was still blocked by Petri. Whoops, maybe straight-out believing that this was their money hadn't been such a great idea.
(( Sorry for the long post! I'm just going to verify though that yes, Petri and his cousin are con-men haha and you're all free to direct/control them however you like! ))
